About this procedure
Authentication confirms that a certificate was genuinely issued by a recognised Iraqi institution. It is a prerequisite for public-sector appointment and for attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Certificates issued abroad follow a different equivalence process handled by the same directorate.
Steps to follow
Obtain confirmation from your university
The registrar of the awarding university issues a sealed confirmation letter addressed to the ministry.
Submit the certificate and confirmation
Present the original certificate, the university letter and a copy of your identity document.
Pay the authentication fee
The fee is paid per certificate; postgraduate certificates carry a higher rate.
Collect the authenticated certificate
The certificate is returned bearing the ministry seal and an authentication serial number.
