About this procedure
A private licence permits the holder to drive a non-commercial vehicle. The minimum age is eighteen.
All applicants must pass a medical fitness examination, a written traffic-rules test and a practical driving test at an authorised traffic directorate.
Steps to follow
Complete the medical examination
A vision and general fitness check is carried out at the medical committee attached to the traffic directorate.
Sit the theory test
The computerised test covers traffic signs, right of way and penalties. A pass mark of 80% is required.
Sit the practical road test
The road test is booked after the theory pass and is conducted on the directorate's test circuit.
Pay the fee and receive the licence
The smart licence card is printed after payment and is valid for ten years.
