About this procedure
The Unified National ID Card is issued by the civil status office of the district where the applicant is registered. Every Iraqi aged fifteen and over is entitled to one.
Old civil identity cards remain valid until their holder applies for the unified card, but most government services now request the unified card.
Steps to follow
Locate your registration office
Applications are only accepted at the civil status office holding your family record book. Check the number printed on your civil ID.
Submit the application form
Fill in the national card application form and attach the family record book, civil ID and nationality certificate.
Provide biometric data
Fingerprints, an iris scan and a photograph are captured at the enrolment counter in a single visit.
Pay the fee and collect the card
Pay at the cashier and return on the appointment date. The card must be collected in person by the holder.
