About this procedure

Ownership of registered property passes only on entry in the real estate register. A private sale contract alone does not transfer title.

Both parties, or their notarised agents, must attend on the day of registration.

Steps to follow

  1. Request a title search

The register is checked for mortgages, court orders and other encumbrances before any transfer is scheduled.

  2. Obtain the valuation and pay the transfer tax

The estimation committee values the property; the transfer tax is calculated on that value, not on the contract price.

  3. Attend the signing session

Seller and buyer sign before the registrar, who verifies identity and capacity.

  4. Receive the new title deed

The deed is issued in the buyer's name and the register entry is amended the same day.
